Care Home Website · Grafton Lodge

From a Broken Website to a Full Care Home Site in Two Days

Grafton Lodge is a small family-run care home in Strood, Kent. When its old website stopped working, we built a one-page site on 19 October 2026 and had the full site live the next evening, with every claim on it checked against a public source.

Grafton Lodge care home website homepage, built by Fourseven Media

Grafton Lodge looks after up to 22 older people in a period house on Goddington Road in Strood, offering residential, dementia and respite care. It is run by Sathya Care, the same owners as Tollington Lodge, whose website we had already built.

In October 2026 the home’s old website stopped working. A family searching for Grafton Lodge had nowhere to land.

Day one: somewhere for families to land

On 19 October we built a single page with the essentials: the phone number, the address, the care on offer and a way to arrange a visit. Nothing clever, just enough that nobody looking for the home hit a dead end.

Day two: the full site

The full site went live on the evening of 20 October. It runs on the same codebase as Tollington Lodge, which is why it was quick, but it has its own identity:

  • Colours from the house itself and the tree in the home’s logo. Every text colour passes WCAG AA contrast.
  • Type chosen for older readers on phones: Young Serif headings, and body text in Figtree at 18px.
  • Every page a family needs: home, about, a care hub with its own pages for residential, dementia and respite care, Life at Grafton (activities, meals, rooms and a photo gallery), fees and funding, and contact.
  • The phone, first. The number sits in the header, a sticky tap-to-call bar follows visitors on phones, and the homepage leads with Call, then Arrange a visit.
  • CQC’s official rating widget on every page, as Regulation 20A requires.
  • Local SEO foundations: structured data for the home, its care services and its FAQs, one canonical domain, and a sitemap.

Every claim checked

A care home website gets read by worried families, by the CQC and by the local authority. So nothing on Grafton’s site says more than a public source shows. We went through every archived version of the old website back to 2011, the CQC profile, all 24 carehome.co.uk reviews, Google, the food hygiene rating, Companies House and the home’s Facebook page.

  • Real photos, recovered. We pulled 52 photos from the old sites’ archives, including a 2020 professional shoot, and placed them so no page repeats one.
  • Reviews quoted word for word, dated and attributed to where they came from.
  • Ratings shown with the month they were checked: 5.0 on Google from 31 reviews, 9.5 on carehome.co.uk from 24 reviews, and a food hygiene rating of 5, all as of October 2026.
  • Claims we couldn’t back came out. Sources disagreed on how many rooms are en-suite, so that claim waits until the owners confirm. A long testimonial on the old site isn’t on any review platform, so it went.
  • Nothing the home isn’t registered for. Grafton isn’t registered for nursing care, so the site never offers it.
